Berlin meets the World – Together, not against each other – Cooperation despite competition
Event with the Sultanate of Oman, April 2025, Berlin
Invitation to the Dialogue Event
As part of our dialogue series “Berlin meets the World – Together, not against each other”, we warmly invite you to the upcoming event with H.E. Ambassador Maitha Saif Al Mahrouqi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Federal Republic of Germany.
Under the title “Sultanate of Oman – Hidden Treasure and Stable Partner in the Persian Gulf”, we will provide insights into Oman’s role as a reliable and economically emerging player with strategic significance in the Gulf region.
The Sultanate of Oman as a Partner
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, ties between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Sultanate of Oman have been marked by stability and mutual trust. Oman is regarded as a neutral, safe, and economically dynamic country on the Arabian Peninsula.
The Sultanate stands out due to low bureaucratic and tax burdens, a strategically advantageous location between Asia, Africa, and Europe, and a foreign policy focused on balance. It is a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), benefits from regional customs advantages, and has a free trade agreement with the United States.
Particularly noteworthy is the development of special economic zones such as Duqm, Salalah, and Sohar, which offer tax incentives and allow full foreign business ownership. Oman also offers a high quality of life and a hospitable society.
Perspectives for Cooperation
We see Oman not only as a reliable dialogue partner, but as a true "Hidden Treasure" in the region. The presentation by H.E. Ambassador Maitha Saif Al Mahrouqi will highlight current developments, economic perspectives, and potential avenues for cooperation.
Furthermore, the Sultanate of Oman will participate this year in the International Economic Forum in Magdeburg and the Racing Day in July – additional opportunities for exchange and collaboration are already in preparation.
